I’ve been going back and forth for a while now about whether or not to do an Easter Basket for our toddler this year. I remember occasionally getting Easter baskets when I was young, but I don’t remember it being a consistent thing that I looked forward to. There is an element of Easter Baskets that I believe could be a fun and meaningful tradition for our kids, but I’m hesitant to create an element of expectation of “more stuff” during the Easter holiday. So my husband and I decided that we would be super intentional about what we get to go inside of Easter baskets for our kids, and I thought I would share some of the items that I grabbed last minute to go in our son’s Easter basket this year as we start our own family traditions.

I’ve rounded up some adorable Easter baskets with fun and intentional fillers for toddlers - Easter pajamas, books, devotionals, sunglasses, non-candy snacks, stuffed animals, bath toys, and more!

Easter Basket Fillers for Toddlers

Cute Easter Baskets

I picked up this super simple and neutral white basket that we can use year after year. I like that the handle lays down along the top of the basket so that it is easier to fill. While I like the look of “grass” for Easter baskets, I could already envision my son making a total mess of that stuff, so I decided to grab some green tissue paper this year to bunch up on the bottom of the basket.

Snacks

When it comes to snacks and candy, I don’t feel like our son needs tons of candy in his basket. I already know there will be candy in the plastic eggs for an egg hunt (but let’s be honest, most of that is for mom & dad at this point!), so I’m more interested in finding some non-candy snacks to go in the Easter basket - goldfish crackers, cookies, and fruit snacks. And of course, I decided to throw in some Peeps just to see what he thinks of them!

Books / Devotional

The one thing that I said to my husband that I want to be most intentional about for Easter baskets for kids is that they have a devotional book in their basket each year. I love the idea of having simple reminders for our kids of who Jesus is and what the true meaning of Easter really is. Since our son is too young yet for a devotional, I picked up this sweet “God Gave Us Easter” board book from Target and also threw in another Ollie book (because, how cute?!) and a Little Blue Truck Springtime book.

Bubbles

Bubbles seem to be a great springtime, ready-for-summer activity, and at 15 months, our son is just now showing active interest in bubbles. I thought a small bubble machine would be lots of fun and stocked up on a giant bottle of bubble solution while I was thinking about it.

Pajamas

Another practical item for an Easter basket is a new pair of pajamas. I was going back and forth between some options, but made an impulse decision and grabbed some cute “baby yoda” pajamas for his basket this year.

Accessories

My husband’s first suggestion when I asked him for ideas of practical items that we could put in Easter baskets each year was SUNGLASSES and I just love it! Now that we have a little girl, I’m also looking at hair accessories all of the time - and there are lots of adorable hair accessories that are perfect additions to an Easter basket!

Activities / Toys

Since we’re not going strong on the candy front for Easter baskets, I wanted to add in some toys and activities that fit our son’s age and development right now or items that I felt that we were lacking (like an interactive bath toy, a soft and interactive toy for car rides and some giant sidewalk chalk).

Bath Time

I love adding something “practical” and fun to a basket and bath time toys and supplies are always a hit with my kids in their baskets!

Eating & Drinking

Another practical option for your Easter baskets… water cups, mugs, cute seasonal plates, and more!
