As a mom of two toddlers, I'm always on the lookout for fun and engaging ways to keep my little ones entertained, especially during long roadtrips or winding down at bedtime. One of our family's favorite discoveries recently has been the world of podcasts! They are a fantastic way to spark imagination, provide comfort, and instill values, all while giving us a few moments of peace. I'm excited to share with you my top podcast picks for toddlers, categorized into Stories, Educational, Bedtime, and Bible Stories, perfect for keeping your kiddos entertained and inspired.

I’ve compiled these lists to be geared towards toddlers and preschoolers, but of course, I would recommend with each of these podcasts that parents preview the podcast episodes first to make sure you are comfortable with the content, the voice, and if it will be a good fit for your kids at their age!

Silly Stories for Kids

This is our favorite podcast series in our house right now! Both of my kids LOVE these silly stories (especially my 4 year old) and they are often asking to listen to this in the car before asking to watch something. They even run around the house now singing “I am the Pim Pim” 🎶 🤣 It’s hilarious for all of us.

I especially like this podcast of short stories for younger kids! The character voices they use are fun to listen to for little ears and also teach fun facts! These episodes are a mix of rich storytelling combined with traditional learning and modern skills for kids. Plus they use lots of fun special effects and noises that make these little episodes extra fun.

Smash Boom Best is a hilarious and clever debate show for kids and families from the creators of the award-winning podcast Brains On! from APM Studios. Each episode pits two cool things against each other, letting you decide which is best: Pikachu vs. Mario, Lollipops vs. Popcorn, Flamingos vs. Axolotls, Mermaids vs. Bigfoot, Cats vs. Dogs, Spiderman vs. Batman, Refrigerators vs. Toilets, Minecraft vs. Lego… the list goes on. This podcast is geared towards older kids, so think preschoolers and up.

Sleep Tight Stories: Bedtime Stories for Kids of All Ages

I’ve shared this podcast with my kids the most for bedtime - I love the unique stories and the calming music in the background.

Sleep Tight Relax: Calming Bedtime Stories and Meditations

Similar to the Sleep Tight Stories podcast, these episodes have a background of music that is more meditative (think of a relaxing nap at a spa!). She also encourages kids to take some focused breaths before she starts the story. This is great for kids that have a harder time winding down and settling at the end of the day!

Story Train: Magical Bedtime Stories for Kids

This podcast has some unique stories for kids that each start out on a train ride - perfect for kids who love trains! They also share a theme for the stories before they start the story. I wouldn’t say these stories are overly relaxing, but they also aren’t super upbeat. They are great for bedtime prep, or even for car rides when it’s time for the kids to take a nap in the car! 😉

Dad’s Bedtime Stories for Kids

These episodes are much longer than most on this list - almost all of them are at least an hour long. His voice is very soothing, with some meditative music in the background, so hopefully these stories will help your little ones get to sleep easily.

Koala Tots: Bedtime Stories for Toddlers

These bedtime stories have a VERY soothing and relaxing voice! Each episode starts with a little rhyme, and then follows up with a story that repeats (in hopes of promoting your toddler’s ability to drift off to sleep!).

Sesame Street: Goodnight World

With so much to explore, it's no wonder that winding down can be tough for our curious little ones. Filled with engaging storytelling, lively characters, and important lessons of faith, these Bible story podcasts are perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Let your children embark on exciting journeys through the pages of Scripture as they learn about God.

Tiny Theologians

This podcast is one of my favorites for my kids! They keep the attention of my 2 and 4 year old easily (especially my 4 year old). They are fun little lessons each episode that are shared by kids’ voices, which make them more accessible to my little kids. This adventure podcast for kids is fun, upbeat, and rich with biblical theology. Each week, kids can join TJ and Tory as they adventure through the attributes of God. Each episode features one letter of the alphabet and the corresponding attribute of God from our best selling card set, the ABCs of God's Attributes. It seems that this podcast has a “beginning and end” - so it’s not a continuously ongoing podcast, but the episodes are easy to repeat!

The Biggest Story

We have The Biggest Story book for our kids and I love the colorful illustrations for my kids! These episodes walk through a new Bible story each week that will help kids see the biggest story of redemption and ultimately what - better yet, Who! - the Bible is all about: Jesus! Hear a dramatic retelling of these biblical stories by Mike Reeves along with a weekly memory verse and engaging teaching of how each story connects to the gospel. Again, these episodes are geared towards slightly older kids, so might be hard for young toddlers to stay engaged for too long.

Kids Bible Stories

These podcast episodes seem to be geared to slightly older kids, so it might be harder to keep your toddlers’ attention for the whole episode. They do a great job of including other sounds into the episodes to make the Bible stories more interesting, as well as other kids’ voices. And it’s great opportunities to talk about the Bible as a family!

Paws & Tales

Favorites Ways for Kids to Listen to Podcasts

Yoto Player

I can’t say enough GREAT things about our Yoto players! They are geared for ages 4+ (but we also have one for our 2 year old, but she gets to use it when supervised). The Yoto player is so versatile - kids can use this player to listen to audiobooks, radio channels just for kids, podcasts… and so much more! The Yoto Player app for mom or dad’s phone allows you to select from lots of “built-in” podcasts, but you can also easily add any of your favorite podcasts to the app and link it to a “make your own” card so your kids can listen to their favorite podcasts whenever they want! Or you can stream the podcasts from the app on your phone straight to the Yoto player (you can also use it as a more traditional bluetooth speaker).

The Yoto Player comes in a standard size (as seen on the left) and also a Mini Player.

Storybutton

If you are ready to go “all in” with podcasts for your kids, this Storybutton device is incredible! It’s a player for playing podcasts that are kid-friendly - with no fees or subscriptions. It’s like a redesigned radio for kids and you can build your own playlists for them to listen to and enjoy. The Storybutton audio player is also a white noise machine, has lots of bedtime stories, ambient music, educational podcasts & audio dramas for all ages.

Portable Bluetooth Speaker

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option to let your kids listen to podcasts in their room or on the go, a portable bluetooth speaker is a great option. This one is a good size for sitting on a bedside night stand and it’s not too small that it will get lost easily! There are lots of colors to choose from and it’s under $35, plus has almost 80k reviews over 4 stars.
