This past month felt sooooo long. Our little boy got sick (or was fussy from teething), my husband came down with COVID and I somehow managed to survive and keep our house together without getting sick myself. Crazy! In a lot of ways, I don’t feel like we did a whole lot this past month other than just trying to survive!
In this post, you’ll find a few of my favorite things that I have been enjoying the most over the past month or that my family has found to be super useful! It is my hope to share with you a few items every month and pass along some recommendations or joy to other families! Hope you find something helpful here!
My Favorite Things for April 2021
Kitsch Cotton Face Masks
Here’s hoping that we won’t need to be wearing masks for *too* much longer in the near future, but since we’re not quite there yet, I’ve been wanting to get some cuter masks that are super comfortable and dressy enough for attending some upcoming weddings this summer. I have had my eye on these Kitsch masks for a long time and finally decided to grab a few packs of a variety of patterns and colors. I was honestly a little bit hesitant since these do not have adjustable ear loops, but WOW! they have exceeded my expectations on all levels! They are SO comfortable and fit quite snug on my face (without hurting) and actually stay in place over my nose and under my chin while talking, which most other masks don’t do for me! I HIGHLY recommend these masks!
Women’s No-Show Socks
I found out about these socks from @blondeandambitious ‘cuz she is sharing about them all of the time in her IG stories, and I am so glad that I was influenced because I have never had a more comfortable no-show sock! Usually, I find that no-show socks tend to slide off my foot or are too tight, but these are just perfect. Highly recommend!
Toddler Socks
Has anyone else noticed how difficult it is to find SIMPLE neutral socks for boys? I feel like every time that I look at places like Carter’s or Target, that the options for socks are bright colors, versions of blues, or white and pops of primary colors. None of those are bad things, but I just wanted some neutral black, gray, and white socks for his outfits. I was hesitant about a group pack from Amazon, but these socks have been SO fabulous! Great quality and love the little grippers on the bottoms.
An Angela Marchmont Mystery (10-book series)
After spending so much time caring for my husband and little boy this past month and not getting much downtime for myself, once he started feeling better, I wanted nothing more than to get lost in a book for a little bit. Instead, I finished out this 10-book series that I had started a long time ago and had forgotten about somewhere halfway through Book 6. So I pretty much only need 2 days to finish each one of the books remaining in this series. Needless to say, these books are a great easy read!
Toddler Rain Jacket
I had been hunting for quite some time for a cute rain jacket for our toddler boy that wasn’t some crazy pattern and would feel neutral enough to be able to “pass on” to future kids as hand-me-downs. I finally came across this adorable red rain jacket and windbreaker, which I promptly put in my basket! I bought our 16-month-old the 2T so that there would be room to grow and it is definitely a bit big on him at the moment, which has easily been solved by rolling up the sleeves and zipping it up each time he wears it.
Mini Soccer Goal Set & Soccer Ball
Now that the weather is warmer, I really wanted to have a small soccer goal net that I could fold up and put away when we are not using it. This set even has an adorable little soft plastic soccer ball that came with a pump and needle in order to blow it up. It also includes a set of stakes if we wanted to place it somewhere in the yard and not worry about it getting knocked over.
9-bin Toy Storage Shelf
This was sort of an impulse buy when I was in a storage organization mood, but also something that I have been keeping an eye out for. While this storage shelf is made of plastic, the gray and white colors are exactly what I had been looking for to store our toddler’s growing collection of toys. This has been perfect in our space and it’s so fun to watch him looking at everything in bins where he can see them easily instead of digging through an unseen basket of toys.
Native Water Shoes for Toddlers
I loved these shoes so much that I had to buy the next size up for our toddler already! I bought them again in gray because I feel like they are a great neutral that goes with everything. These shoes are super easy to clean, which is perfect for backyard play when it’s too warm for rain boots. And this larger size is also great to slip on easily for my son (who happens to have a large bridge of his foot). At 17 months, he is now wearing a Toddler 6.
KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-qt Stand Mixer in Pistachio
I know this is something that I’m using all of the time, but I really love having my KitchenAid mixer on hand to whip up baked good or tasty sides for our Easter meal. I’ve made angel food cake, chocolate-chip banana muffins, and creamy mashed potatoes. I’m sure I could include this as a favorite every month if I really wanted to!
